About Rottman Drilling Company

Rancher and alfalfa farmer Frank Rottman established Rottman Drilling Company in the Antelope Valley in 1928. Originally, the company’s primary operations involved drilling, and equipping agricultural water wells throughout Southern California. By the 1940s, the business had expanded into the domestic and industrial fields.
Our Services

From Modest Beginnings, Expansion and Growth

Frank’s son, Larry, joined the business in 1962. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Fresno State University, with a minor in Industrial Arts, in 1967, then served in Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant with the Army Corps of Engineers. Upon returning to the family business, he worked his way to CEO of the company in 1976. Under Larry’s guidance, Rottman Drilling Company has grown to provide water well drilling, servicing and repair, abandoned well destruction, and sales and service of line shaft turbine and submersible pumps.
 
In 1988 and 1989, Larry served as president of the California Groundwater Association and received that organization’s J.D. Doshier Award for Contractor of the Year in 1994. He’s participated in a number of seminars, teaching courses on well design and development, and has attended the N.L. Baroid Drilling Fluids School in Houston, Texas.

Three Generations of Excellence

Larry’s son, Matt, represents Rottman Drilling Company’s third generation of leadership as he transitions into the role of President and CEO. Matt brings his own impressive skills and expertise to the role, beginning with an AA from the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico, where he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation. He then attended Texas State University, earning a BBA in Business Management. From there, he served as a Captain in the United States Army for seven years, including a year as an Intelligence Officer during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Matt has participated in a number of seminars, including courses in Geology / Hydrology and Well Rehabilitation, and studied at the Baroid Drilling Fluids School in Houston, Texas.
 
Matt is looking forward to continuing Rottman Drilling Company’s long history of excellence, with a focus on continued growth and dedication to providing you with outstanding services.
